Fighting Females Training Day

  On March 19th the dragons headed to Cardiff to take part in the 1st Female Fighters training weekend. We were treated to training with some of GB's top women and a masterclass with Kin Ryu's own top referee Lisa Rivers.  Judo is such a superb sport for women everywhere and it was great to be able to celebrate all together. Looking forward to next year!

Dragons on fire at the 2022 British School Championships

 Kin Ryu judo club are celebrating following the performance of its athletes at the 2022 British Schools Championships.  The Championships are open to school age children from year 6-13 and the club fielded and impressive 12 athletes at the event over the weekend. In yr 6/7 the club was represented by 4 athletes Alex McKee u34kg, Bradley Dengate u34kg (adaptive) Viadotas Pulokas u38kg and Charlotte Crawford u57kg. For all of these athletes it was their 1st time stepping out on the national stage but all brought their best judo with them. Alex started well impressing everyone with his superb throwing skills to win a place in the bronze medal contest. After a close contest he was unable to take the win finishing with a credible 5th place. Bradley was also on fire showing some of his best judo as he stormed through his 1st contest and only narrowly lost the 2nd as he took the bronze medal in his group.  In u38kg Viadotas out foxed his opponents winning his first 2 contests to make the sem

English Pre Cadet and Cadet Open

  On 5th and 6th of March the dragons travelled to Thetford for the English Pre Cadet and Cadet Open. This top event sees athletes from around the Country competing and there was some superb judo on display.  In the U18, u60kg cadets Declan Knight fought well winning his 1st contests to make the final 8. After a great contest against the no 1 seed he was knocked into the repecharge where he finished in a credible 7th place. Also fighting in the cadets was Megan Howe in the u48kg group. No wins for Megs this time but good mat time and she is making progress in this new age group. In the U15 Pre Cadets Daniil Grishin moved up a weight from the British Championships to compete at u50kg. Dan fought well winning the 1st 2 fights to gain a place in the semi-final. After a loss he competed for bronze and with a fabulous throw won the contest to take the 1st medal of the weekend. In the girls section Zara Howe was on fire at u32kg winning all contests to take gold. Lucy Robinson followed quick
