Mini Dragons strike gold in Kidderminster

  Kin Ryu Mini Dragons made a fantastic return to competition at the Samurai orange and under held in Kidderminster. For some it their 1st event since joining the club in April this year and for others their 1st event in 18 months but everyone was excited to show what they have been working on.  The event started with the red belt boys and fighting for the club was Rayyan Mezali, Rami Mezali and Joseph Wheatley. For all the boys this was their first judo event and they all fought brilliantly showing the skills they have learned over the past 6 months. Final results were a bronze for Joseph and Rami and silver for Rayyan.  Following the red belts were the yellow and orange belt boys and Kin Ryu was represented by Bradley Dengate, Alex McKee and Sebbie Robottom. All three boys were excited to return to competition and had really good opponents to push them all the way. The final results were gold for Bradley, bronze for Sebbie and 5th for Alex. Lisa returns to international refereeing at the Junior European Championships

  Kin Ryu coach and international referee Lisa Rivers was back in action at the Junior European Championships held in Luxembourg. This was the first return to the international refereeing circuit for the British referee for 18 months! Lisa refereeing the U73kg European Junior final The event takes place over 4 days of hard competition between the best u21yr old athletes in Europe and it is a great honor to be selected to referee. This is only they second time Lisa has been selected to referee at this prestigious tournament and it helps as she progresses as one of GB top referees. 

Kin Ryu Dragons dominate at the English Closed Championships

Kin Ryu Judo Club are celebrating after a fantastic return to competition at the English Closed Championships. It's been 18 months since judo competitions in Great Britain were forced to stop but the team were determined to come back strongly. The pre cadet (U15yrs) boys started the day with Dan Grishin, u46kg storming through his group to make the final. In the final, a superb throw saw him take the gold and the title of English Champion 2021. Next to fight were Sam Tang and Tyler Hill both competing in the u50kg group. Again the boys made strong starts to the day winning all of their early contests with ippon to see an all Kin Ryu final with Sam coming out on top and taking the gold and the title with Tyler taking a well-deserved silver. The last pre cadet boy to fight was Peter Crawford in u66kg and he continued the winning streak also fighting strongly to take the gold and the title of England Champion.
