Dragons find top form in Canada

 


Kin Ryu Judo Club are celebrating after incredible results at the Pan American Cadet and Junior Cups in Montreal, Canada. On Thursday athletes Samuel Tang, Olivia Barfoot-Saunt and Lucy Robinson stepped up an age group into u21's and showed they can compete with the best on the World stage. It was a tough day for Lucy as she was unable to progress to the medal rounds in the u52kg category. 

Sam started strongly narrowly losing out on a medal as he took 5th place in a strong u60kg category.

Liv was on fire as she competed for the 1st time at her new u48kg weight. She won the 1st 3 fights conclusively to gain a place in the final. An injury saw her lose this contest but she is incredibly proud to win a superb silver medal, her 1st International Medal (pictured above).

The following day it was the Cadet Championships. Sam and Lucy competed again and were joined this time by Peter Crawford at u90kg. Liv was unable to fight following her injury the day before.

The team were all on fire winning through to the medal rounds and taking on some incredible athletes along the way. All three found themselves competing for a bronze medal and all were victorious taking 3 bronze medals. Congratulations team!

Mini Dragons medal in Ealing

  Well done to the mini dragons out to play at  Ealing Judo Club  today. Fantastic competition and so important for the development of young athletes. Never underestimate the importance of these development events so that young athletes can have fun, learn and try their judo against others without the pressure of results. Dragons off to a flying start in 2024

  Kin Ryu dragons have got off to a flying start this year with the team flying to Glasgow for the Scottish Open.  This event is the 1st major tournament of the new year with players from all over the UK and international teams from around the world competing in of the UK's biggest tournaments. Kin Ryu had great representation with our national squad making the journey. The masters team started the weekend with current national champion Joshua Boxell staying on winning form taking gold in the u81 M1 section.  In the cadets Sebbie Robottom put on a great performance taking 7th in u55kg. Following was Alex Mckee in the u42kg and he continued his British championship podium form, winning bronze with some long contests.      In the tough u60kg category Sam Tang took all his early contests with superb winning throws to get into the semi-final.
